Dedicated logistics education and research
Control towers
Greece can be considered as a prime location for control towers due to world class connectivity with other European and global supply chains. Control towers already developed in Greece make national supply chain networks more customer-centric, sustainable, responsive, and agile.
Lean & Sustainable
Industry initiatives (e.g. certified warehouses with LEED standard, solar panels, vehicles with alternative fuels) as well as National Climate Law (calculation of carbon footprint) to improve sustainability in logistics.
Logistics 4.0
Multiple projects (either research or industrial) have been implemented lately in Greece. Projects focus on autonomous mobile & delivery robots, drones, automation solutions in intra-logistics operations, AI, machine learning systems and blockchain
Digitalization of freight transport information
The Greek government has joined the e-CMR Protocol. e-CMR lowers handling costs, eliminates administrative and invoicing delays, and reduces discrepancies at delivery sites. e-CMR also enhances transparency and security across the entire logistics chain.
Digitalization of customs
The EU technical support aided Greek Customs in setting out a path for better services through the digitalisation and simplification of national customs processes and procedures. The project has in effect provided models for the digitalisation of 29 currently paper-based national procedures.
Port Community Systems
Port of Piraeus – Hellenic Port Community System provides the following benefits: better cooperation with other terminals in Europe, improved terminal quality services, better data quality due to automated data exchange, innovative reliable, secure and fast services.
